Steph On Saturdays: Wise Words

I’ve been fortunate enough to come across some incredible people as I’ve traveled along this road of life. And with the launch of SHS, I’m tapping into their wisdom now more than ever.

Imposter syndrome has cost me some precious sleep this week. Here are a few of the anxious highlights:

Am I good enough to be a small business owner?
What if I run out of things to say on the blog?
Is anyone really going to pay me to process archival collections, be a sports motivational speaker, or craft fundraising strategies?

In the end, though, those are just words. They’re just thoughts. And so, to talk back to those thoughts, here are a few of the positive messages I’ve been lucky to garner from powerful people in my life:

“No matter what happens, just keep moving your feet.” –Denise, my line dance teacher

“I think you have a lot to contribute to the [archival] profession.” –Kathy, my academic advisor

“I love you and I need you.” —Gavi Velategui, my late mentor

“Make some moves!” –Dave, my friend and hurling teammate

“You are precious.” —Therese, my auntie

You are enough just the way you are.” –Marie, my mom and fellow Taoist
