Whoa, It’s WoProHoSeattle!

It’s been a busy couple of years for women’s hockey–after eight years of operation, the National Women’s Hockey League/Premier Hockey Federation shut its doors. What has emerged in its place is the Professional Women’s Hockey League, currently carrying out its season with six teams dekeing and duking it out on the ice.

Here in Seattle we want a piece of that action, a women’s team to grow alongside our NHL team (the Kraken). Enter Women’s Pro Hockey Seattle.

WoProHoSeattle, as it’s known, has a multi-faceted goal: “Unite and amplify the

community’s energy for a women’s professional ice hockey team in Seattle and help grow the game.” They’re accomplishing this goal by holding events at Rough & Tumble pub, recruiting ambassadors to spread the good word, and raising funds for scholarships to be given to girls who want to play hockey.

Grassroots campaigns like these excite us at Superheroine Solutions because they are a testament to the power of collective action, and are able to meet people where they’re at. Whether you only have the bandwidth to put a WoProHoSeattle sticker on your car or you dive in headfirst and join the leadership team captained by Zoe Harris, there’s something for everyone to do.

Watch this space for more WoProHo updates as the campaign progresses! #WoProHoSeattle
